Endangered Species

There are many endangered animals in the world, they are being driven to the edge of extinction by the abuse and greed of human beings. There habitats are being constantly invaded for farming and human dwellings and they are being slaughtered for their skins and body parts to be used in chinese medicine and for soveneirs, clothing and accessories for the fashion industry. Some of these animals are protected by the laws of their country and they are given sanctuaries to live a natural life but poachers are still killing and invading the animals territories. A great deal of work, money and energy must be put into saving these endangered animals before they become extinct, what right do human beings have to wipe out entire species of other creatures who share this earth.

There are many wonderful organisations that work tirelessly to protect these animals from abuse and exploitation. Every human being should make contact with one of these organisations and encourage other people to do so as well, in order to save our planet because these animal species, the jungles and the rain forests and mountainous areas where animals live are all vital to the continuation of our life on this earth, we are all interconnected, of that there is no doubt. Please do all you can to give of yourself in someway to this very essential cause, of course donations of money are vital, however big or small the contribution, also you can join in campaigns, educate your children and grandchildren and contact any of the known animal welfare groups to offer your assistance, your concern and your energy, will be gratefully received.

The Spectacled Bear

This bear lives in south America. The forests where they live are being constantly cleared for farming. Although this bear is protected by law they are still being slaughtered by poachers for their fur, their meat and their fat.

The Giant Panda

There are only approxiamately 1600 giant pandas left in the wild. This is due to the population growth and farming, taking away from them their natural habitat.

The Orangutan

Orangutans live in the rainforest. These areas are being cut down for wood and farming, leaving no natural habitat for the orangutans to live in peace. There are many orphaned baby orangutans which if lucky are looked after in sancturies by volunteers because their mothers have been killed by the tree fellers and forest clearing machineries, possibly for their meat.

Koala Bears

These bears live in eucalyptus tree forests in Australia. In the last 200 years city growth has destroyed 80 % of these forests.

Loggerhead Turtles

These turtles are losing their beach habitats and eggs. Their eggs are either stolen by other animals or by people to eat and their numbers are very much in decline.

Mountain Gorilla

This shy, gentle ape which is very family orientated needs dense forest in which to survive, these forests are being constantly cleared by human beings which deprives the gorilla of its natural home. Although they are protected by law they are still hunted and slaughtered for trophies, ornaments and soveneirs.

Crocodiles

Crocodile and reptile skin is used in huge amounts for the fashion industry. This skin can be made into handbags, shoes, belts, coats, etc. The sale of such products brings in around £ 300 million each year around the world.

Whales

Whales are hunted for their blubber, oils and meat. Some have been hunted to the edge of extinction.

Tigers

Tigers are killed for their body parts and these are often used in traditional chinese medicine. There is absolutely no evidence that these remedies are effective, therefore it is true to say that this magnificient large cat is being slaughtered to extinction for absolutely no reason whatsoever. The murderous human beings who kill these beautiful animals are commiting an absolutely terrible atrocity and getting away with it and wiping this large cat off of the the face of the earth for no reason. This is what they use our beautiful tigers for:

The tiger's fat=Remedy for rheumatism
The tiger's tail=Remedy for skin disease
The tiger's brain=Remedy for pimples
The tiger's whiskers=A cure for toothache
The tiger's eyeballs=Remedy for epilepsy and malaria
The tiger's nose=Remedies for various bites
The tiger's claws=Remedy used for insomnia

Although herbal plant remedies and alternative health treatments are wonderful this chinese medicine which uses dead animals does not work. We are losing these wonderful animals for no purpose at all.

Rhinos

The east African rhinos horn, for which this animal is slaughtered is taken to The Yemen where it is used in the making of ornamental handles for daggers (Jambiyas), although other materials can be used, the rhinos horn is considered the very best and the most exclusive material for such daggers.
The south African and Asian rhino are used for far easten traditional medicines. In some asian countries, ground rhino horn is used as a cure all for every kind of ailment, from typhoid to arthritis and many many others. This rhino horn is not used as an aphrodisiac as is commonly thought.
There are five species of rhino, apart from one of the African white rhino, all are in danger of being hunted for their horn, for which absolutely no evidence exists to prove any curative properties exist to heal human beings or animals.

Elephant

Unlike African and Indian elephants, 95% of the elephants in Thailand are domesticated animals. Only the wild elephant is protected by law. The elephants of Thailand were used as loggers but because the monsoons became more severe and logging was stopped, these elephants became unemployed, some were abandoned and others cruelly trained to be tourist attractions. These elephants are taken around cities where they, and their human owners begged for money from tourists, who paid to feed them. These human owners were not the Mahouts, who were raised with the elephants, but opportunists who cared little for the well-being of the elephant, they were just being used for money.
The asian elephant is the largest living animal in asia, now endangered. They were used in forestry and for ceremonial purposes. They are smaller than the African elephant, most easily noticed by the ear size, asian elephants are more readily trained and used as beasts of burden.
The African elephants are being killed for their ivory tusks, this situation is so serious that they could be extinct by the year 2020. There is very heavy poaching occuring still, elephants and keepers are being killed so that the ivory can be sold on at an expenisive price. If no-one bought ivory, this magnificient animal would be thriving. It is a cruel and wicked trade.
